Getting started
How do I add something?
Tap + at the top right, give it a name (put the size right in the name, like “Milk 1L”), pick a category, and set how many you have. That's it — no units to configure.
How do the colors work?
Each item shows its level at a glance: green means you have it, amber means it's running low, and red means you're out. Open an item and set its “low-stock threshold” to decide when amber kicks in. A brand-new item starts green and only turns red at zero.
How do I see only what I need to buy?
On the main screen, turn on Low only to hide everything that's still stocked, or tap Low first to sort the most urgent items to the top.
Categories & organizing
Can I make my own categories?
Yes. Go to Settings → Categories → Manage to add, rename, recolor, reorder, or delete categories. If you delete a category that still has items, the app asks where to move them first.
Can I change an item's category later?
Open the item and tap a different category chip. You can also edit its name, count, threshold and store from the same screen.
Sharing & backup
How do I share my list with family?
Open Settings → Send your list. Your list is exported as a file you can send over Messages, AirDrop, or anything else. The person who receives it opens Settings → Import a list and taps to load it. Importing replaces their current list, so it's best for setting up a shared starting point.
Can I open my list in Excel or Numbers?
Yes. Settings → Export CSV creates a spreadsheet-friendly file (it opens cleanly in Excel, Numbers, and Google Sheets).
Where is my data stored? Is it backed up?
Everything is stored on your iPhone only — nothing is sent anywhere. To keep a copy or move to a new phone, use Send your list to export a file and save it somewhere you trust, then import it on the other device.
Languages
What languages are supported?
English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish and French. Tana Memo follows your iPhone's language setting automatically — change it in iOS Settings and the app follows.
Still stuck?
Tell us what happened
Open the contact form and include your iPhone model and iOS version, plus a short note on what you expected versus what happened. That's usually all we need to sort it out.
